Snow!

One of the reasons I haven't posted anything in a while is because I keep thinking I'm going to upload some pics for my posts. And since it takes twice as long to do that as it does to just type, I end up getting distracted or remembering something I had to do. (Sometimes I just get bored) ; ) Anyway, all that to say, I'll probably have a lot of picture-less posts.

I know nearly everyone else who has a blog in Alabama is posting about this, so I figured it was about time I did too.

It snowed!! It snowed a lot. In fact it's now day three and there's still snow on the ground. We've really enjoyed it. I haven't actually been out in it a whole lot, but it's neat to look out the window and see everything all sparkly and white. The only down side is that it won't pack. No snow men, no snow ball fights! There was a lot of snow art, however, angels and infinity signs and initials and such stomped into the snow.

Maybe later I'll post some pics. Or maybe not. ; )

Jam Session!

Our neighbours invited us over for supper last night, and after we had eaten, the oldest boy showed us his bodhrans, (celtic drums). What started out as an introduction to celtic instruments turned into an all out jam session, with a guitar, a mandolin, a couple of bodhrans, a harmonica, lots of singing, and even a little dancing. Lydia took some video, but not much I'm afraid; Den and I were bemoaning that fact this morning. If I can get the video to work I may post some of what she took.

It was too much fun not to do again. I'm looking forward to next time!

It's Cold!

It's been really cold here! For Alabama anyway. All the way down to 15 degrees on the coldest morning. Lydia and Atticus have had fun outside finding ice to smash, but I've hardly set foot outside. I am not a cold weather person.

Speaking of ice, it gets in the funniest places. Like the padlock on our storage shed. Daddy had to use his lighter to thaw it out before he could open it. He left the shed unlocked, so we could get in there without any trouble. The problem was that when I went to lock it up for the night, it wouldn't close! There was ice inside the padlock so it couldn't slide in all the way. I brought it inside, wrapped a dish towel around one hand, (that metal was cold), held it upside down over the trash can, and with the other hand held a lighter underneath to melt the ice. It took a little while, but I eventually melted it enough to snap it into place. I just hope we won't need to get in the shed any time soon!

Happy New Year!!

We had a great New Years Eve at our neighbours house. Played, talked, ate, watched some fireworks go off, and generally had a good time. It was a nice way to finish of 2013.

Looking forward to whatever 2014 may hold!
